In 2001, Melissa Gardner Webb opened Absolute Massage in a room out of a local recreation complex. In 2008 outgrew her space and moved into the current location in the Kanata North Business Park. In 2018 the name was changed to relax. and the Relax Massage Group was established; Relax Massage Group now consists of 4 clinics; relax. Kanata, relax. Almonte, our expansion to open relax. Greenbank at 250 Greenbank Road and most recently relax.Ottawa, formerly Body Poets Massage Therapy located at 504 Kent Street, Ottawa.

Melissa began her career as an RMT in 2000. Starting out in a small space at a local community centre, she opened a clinic once she realized she could not accommodate the demand. After 17 years of continued growth and success, and opening a second location in Almonte in 2011, she decided to retire her licence and focus on assisting other talented massage therapists build their practices.

In August 2018, with the business thriving under the “Absolute Massage” brand for so many years, she decided it was time for a total overhaul of the look and name and alas….the relax massage group was born. The relax brand, with the underline under the “a” honours the legacy that the absolute name has carried for so many years.

The new business name also brought a new clinic in September 2018,  relax. Greenbank on Greenbank Rd at Hunt Club, which she co-owns with Brigit Laberge. Melissa expanded to 4 clinics with the purchase of Body Poets Massage Therapy located at 504 Kent Street, Ottawa at the end of 2018.

Registered massage therapy is regulated under the “Regulated Health Professions Act” (RHPA), which means that in Ontario you must complete a minimum number of hours of training at an accredited school, then you must successfully pass board-wide practical and written examinations. Once registered, therapists must complete approximately 20 hours of continuing education per year in order to maintain their status and to keep their skills current.

We often work in conjunction with other health care providers, such as physiotherapists, physicians, chiropractors, naturopaths, midwives, orthopedic surgeons in order to ensure you receive exceptional care.
